Working at ETC

ETC is a bioenergy research institute with research in three important areas; biomass combustion, biomass gasification and biorefining. We collaborate with industry, the public sector and academic research partners to find sustainable and cost effective solutions for production of heat, power and high added value products from biomass.

We are involved in several exciting research activities, e.g. the BLG program, the BioDME project and the Bio4Energy collaboration. We coordinate the national research program on black liquor gasification and are host laboratory to the BioDME project that will develop a process that will convert the syngas from the black liquor into DME that will be used as fuel in field tests with 10 heavy trucks developed by Volvo. We will also develop new experimental methods and process models for gasification in the Bio4Energy collaboration, together with Luleå University of Technology and Umeå University.

We are also involved in the Solander Science Park, a collaboration between industry, academia and public sector aiming at reducing the dependence on fossil fuels by developing and commercializing technology that convert forest biomass into motor fuels and chemicals.

ETC has 17 employees and we are currently in a growth phase. Apart from our own employees there are about 40 other researchers and support staff from other companies and academic partners in our lab. Our premises are recently refurbished and extended with new offices and new lab space. Our instrumentation is state of the art and we also have powerful computational power in-house.

We are now looking for:

Post-doc/Senior Researcher specialized on gasification and/or cleaning and conditioning of synthesis gas

About the job:
You will be collaborating with colleagues at Luleå University of Technology and Umeå University to develop new experimental methods or process models within the Bio4Energy program. You will also participate in other research projects at ETC in the area of gasification and syngas upgrading. Depending on your interest you may also participate in contract research for industrial partners.

About you:
You have a PhD degree and suitable experience in the field of gasification and/or syngas upgrading. We particularly welcome female candidates to apply.
