CombustionETC has been active in the area of biomass combustion since 1989. Some of our areas of expertise are combustion characteristics of biofuels, ash related problems in combustion equipment, particle formation mechanisms in combustion, CFD modelling of combustion in industrial boilers, design of burners and feeding equipment and new methods for gas cleaning. GasificationOur research on biomass gasification started in 1994 with an EU-funded project on cyclone gasification. Many different projects have been carried out since then. At present there are three pilot gasifiers (air blown/oxygen blown, atmospheric/pressurised) with auxiliary equipment for gas cleaning and syngas uppgrading in the ETC laboratory. In addition, ETC is also the host laboratory to the world renowned Chemrec black liquor gasifier. The research projects are carried out in close collaboration with different companies. BiorefineryETC actively work within the Solander Science Park, which is a network initiative developing today’s pulp and paper industry into future biorefineries. Our biorefinery research is focussed on thermochemical conversion of forest biomass into second generation biofuels and green chemicals. For more information within the areas above please contact ETC at 0911-232380 or send us an E-mail.
